matthias s "Flashpoint," takes you on a ride through the Texas borderlands, with two charismatic leads, Kris Kristofferson and Treat Williams, who share an undeniable on-screen chemistry. Their banter and camaraderie provide some genuinely good laughs throughout the film.The film boasts some terrific dialogue, and the presence of Kurtwood Smith adds an extra layer of intrigue. His portrayal is as compelling as ever. However, "Flashpoint" does stumble on its rather thin and predictable plot. While the friendship between the main characters is the film's highlight, the storyline lacks depth and complexity.Nonetheless, if you're in the mood for a bit of '80s action with entertaining moments and great one-liners, "Flashpoint" won't disappoint. It's a decent watch that, despite its flaws, manages to keep you entertained. Why, then, add in a subplot about the border patrol being replaced by computers? Or dedicate so much narrative time to the cartel's drop schedule? Or let the camera linger for so, so, so long on Kris Kristofferson's (admittedly impressive) naked sixpack? Maybe a JFK movie should leave you asking questions, but just not these questions.
